Cookie Policy

Version 1 - Updated: September 2026

Trein-vertraging B.V. respects your privacy and is committed to protect any personal information that you may submit through our website. The following information is designed to help you understand what information Trein-vertraging gathers from the website and how this information is handled. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

To make this site work properly, we sometimes place small cookies on users' devices. By accepting the consent in cookie banner on our website, you acknowledge, without limitation or qualification, that you have read, understood and agreed to be subject to the terms and conditions of this policy, and therefore consent to our use of cookies in accordance with these terms.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit a site. It enables the website to remember your device, your actions, and your preferences (such language, font size, and other display preferences) over a period of time. Cookies can be useful, as in the case of your preferences, so you don't have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

What are the different types of cookies?

A cookie can be classified by its lifespan and the domain to which it belongs. By lifespan, a cookie is either a:

session cookie which is erased when you close the browser, or

persistent cookie which remains on your computer/device for a pre-defined period of time.

As for the domain to which it belongs, in our case there are either:

first-party cookies which are set by Trein-vertraging, or

third-party cookies stored by a different domain to the visited page's domain.

How do we use cookies?

Our website uses cookies to ensure the best experience for you. We use both session and persistent cookies on our website. Enabling our first and third party cookies is not strictly necessary for the website to work but it will provide you with a better browsing experience.

The cookie-related information is not used to identify you personally and the pattern data is fully under our control. All our cookies are not used for any purpose other than those described below.

Cookie management

You can allow, block or delete the cookies installed on your device by clicking on the button below. If you do not allow certain cookies, you may not be able to access certain services and your experience on our website may be less satisfactory.

Which cookies do we use?

We use our own first-party cookies to remember your actions and custom preferences. We also use first-party cookies to help you complete tasks without having to re-enter information when browsing from one page to another, or when you visit the site later.

We use third-party cookies to improve your experience with digital analytics and real-time personalization. We also use third-party cookies for online behavioral advertising and to show adverts relevant to something that you searched for in the past.

Cookies used on Trein-vertraging website

This policy applies to the following domains:

Cookie List

A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a website - when visited by a user - asks your browser to store on your device in order to remember information about you, such as your language preference or login information. Those cookies are set by us and called first-party cookies. We also use third-party cookies - which are cookies from a domain different than the domain of the website you are visiting - for our advertising and marketing efforts.

More specifically, we use cookies and other tracking technologies for the following purposes:

Marketing Cookies

These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.

Third-party cookies in this category are placed only with your consent. Exactly which ones are in use right now is listed in the cookie list further down this page. That list is compiled automatically and only finds cookies set while it checks, so we name this one ourselves: sa-user-id, sa-user-id-v2 and sa-user-id-v3 (StackAdapt) measure whether an advert leads to a sign-up.

Our own tvt_ft cookie works differently. We write it on arrival, so before you answer the cookie banner, carrying the advertising identifiers (gclid, wbraid, gbraid, fbclid, ttclid) of the campaign you arrived through. If you decline marketing cookies or withdraw that consent, we remove those identifiers from it. We keep this cookie for 90 days.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not work.

No consent is required for these cookies. They include the ones that remember the cookie choice you made yourself; the cookie list further down this page names them and how long they are kept.

Analytics Cookies

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

We place these cookies only with your consent for the analytical cookie category. The cookie list further down this page names them, and for most of them how long they are kept. The automatic check behind it does not find these, so we name them here: ph_<project>_posthog (PostHog, EU hosting) measures which version of a page performs better and is kept for 1 year, and FPAU, FPLC and FPGSID are together the same Google measurement, set from our own measurement domain.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the cookie settings on this website. We place our own attribution cookie (tvt_ft) on arrival; if you decline analytical cookies we delete it, and if you withdraw consent for marketing we remove the advertising identifier from it. Until you answer the cookie banner we measure page views without cookies or any other storage on your device (PostHog, EU servers); if you decline analytical cookies that measurement stops. Other analytical and marketing cookies are only placed after you have consented to them.

We also measure use of our website with our own, cookieless counter. It places no cookie and we do not store your IP address: it is turned, together with your browser type, into an encrypted code that changes daily and cannot be traced back to you. This measurement rests on our legitimate interest in knowing how many people visit our pages.

We show the list below for as long as our cookie manager's own cookie list has not loaded.

Strictly necessary - always active, no consent required:

  • OptanonConsent, OptanonAlertBoxClosed (OneTrust) - remember the cookie choice you made. Retention period: 1 year.

Analytical - only with your consent for the analytical cookie category:

  • _ga, _ga_<measurement-id> (Google Analytics 4) - distinguish visitors and measure website use. Retention period: 2 years.
  • FPAU, FPLC, FPGSID (Google, measured first-party via our own measurement domain) - the same measurement, set from our own domain.
  • ph_<project>_posthog (PostHog, EU hosting) - measure which version of a page performs better (A/B tests). Retention period: 1 year.

Our own cookie - written on arrival, so before you answer the cookie banner:

  • tvt_ft (Trein-vertraging.nl) - remember which campaign first brought you to us, with its advertising identifiers. If you decline analytical cookies we delete the cookie; if you decline marketing cookies we remove only those identifiers. Retention period: 90 days.

Marketing - only with your consent for the marketing cookie category:

  • _gcl_au (Google Ads) - measure which advert leads to a sign-up. Retention period: 90 days.
  • _fbp (Meta / Facebook) - advertising measurement and showing relevant adverts. Retention period: 90 days.
  • _ttp and related cookies (TikTok) - advertising measurement.
  • sa-user-id, sa-user-id-v2, sa-user-id-v3 (StackAdapt) - advertising measurement.

How to control cookies

You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish - for details, see aboutcookies.org.

You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. However, deleting or blocking all cookies will have a negative impact on the stability of many websites.

If you wish to adjust your Trein-vertraging cookie preferences, you can do so by clicking on the "settings" button on the cookie information banner which appears when you visit www.trein-vertraging.nl.
