Free shuttle buses between Utrecht and Amsterdam during nationwide train strike

On Friday 6 June, train traffic across the Netherlands grinds to a halt because of a nationwide strike at NS. That means: no trains, long waits and sky-high taxi fares for passengers. So we, Daan Ykema (24) and Michael Hilhorst (25), decided to take action.
What if we took over from NS for one day?
That is the question we asked ourselves. And so, on the day of the strike, we are running free shuttle buses between Utrecht Centraal and Amsterdam RAI. That way we help stranded passengers reach their destination after all, without it costing them anything.
Three trips, completely free
We are running three trips:
- Morning: Utrecht → Amsterdam
- Afternoon: Utrecht → Amsterdam
- Evening: Amsterdam → Utrecht
Signing up is easy via trein-vertraging.nl. Our first buses are already full, but if there is a lot of interest we will book extra buses.
Why are we doing this?
Through our website we already help more than 100,000 Dutch people every month to claim money back for train delays. Now, on a day like this, we want to go that extra step. Not complaining about the strike, but offering solutions.

On the road together
This initiative is possible thanks to support out of our own pocket and a collaboration with a local bus company. We are doing it because we believe in smart, decisive solutions for passengers.
